Course Outline
If you’re interested in becoming a community services worker, this course is an excellent choice for you. It is a great starting point to prepare for the work in any community service.
This training focuses on a range of community contexts and provides students with knowledge on working with clients, identifying presenting needs, referral to support services and providing support as required. At this level work takes place under the direction of others and supervision may be direct or indirect.
This nationally recognised course equips graduates with job ready skills that are essential for creating a meaningful career in this field.
To obtain the CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services, students must complete a total of 12 units of competency, consisting of:
- Five (5) Core units, and;
- Seven (7) Elective units

All assessments undertaken for the unit being studied are relevant to the workplace and assessment has been developed in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions.
Students will complete online assessments through the Learning Management System. These assessments have been created to compliment their learning.
Some methods of assessment used in this course are:
- Written answers
- Scenarios and case studies
- Multiple choice questions
- Activities undertaken within the classroom
At prospED, our ultimate goal is your success. To ensure that you have the necessary skills to support your learning journey. Each student will undergo a pre training review which will assist in determining if the course is the most suited to each individual’s needs and aspirations.
Entry Requirements
Appropriate LLN level of 2-3 is required for each student to support their learning journey.
Each potential student will be required to undergo a pre training review to determine that the course is suitable, including LLN assessment.

Study Requirements
To successfully complete your coursework, you must fulfil certain requirements as follows:
- Communication skills
- Documentation creation abilities
- Ability to research information
Students must have access to digital technologies, such as
- Laptops or desktops or tablet computers, and/or smartphones
- Basic digital literacy skills.
For students who are taking online study, additional digital skills and technologies are required, which include:
- Basic computer skills, such as internet browsing, email, word processing, and presentation software
- Proper workstation setup, including a stable internet connection with a suitable data plan, a laptop, desktop or a full size tablet/tablet computer, a web camera/microphone, a smartphone with charger, earphones/headphones/speakers, and a printer (optional)
- A quiet/non interruptive space to complete their studies, a desk/table, comfortable chair, no tripping hazards, and room to move around for assessment, as well as access to water/tea/coffee.
Please note that students need to have their web camera and microphone turned on as required when using video conference.
Upon successful completion of the CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services with prospED, your qualification will be nationally recognised.

Learning pathways
After successful completion of this course, there are many other Certificate III, IV and Diploma level courses in Health and Community Services.
Student’s are able to apply for a Credit Transfer (CT) or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) prior to enrolling.
During the enrolment application process students can nominate if they wish to apply for Credit Transfer or RPL.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
To receive RPL, we assess your previous work, education and life experiences against recognised qualifications. Applications for RPL can be made prior to enrolling.
A fee per unit is applicable when applying for RPL. (see Statement of Fees)
Credit Transfer (CT)
To receive Credit Transfer we view your previous course transcripts (within the last 5 years) and ensure the course code and unit match what we offer. Applications for Credit Transfer can be made prior to enrolling.
You will need a copy of your Certificate with the unit code and title as evidence, or your USI.

prospED offer CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services, in the following study modes and times:
Online Day Classes:
You’ll have one session per week (9:30am – 4:00pm), which includes an online session with a trainer and assessor through video conferencing. You’ll also have guided activities via the Learning Management System (eLearning) to support your learning.
Online Evening Classes:
You’ll have two sessions per week (05:30pm – 9:30pm), which includes an online session with a trainer and assessor through video conferencing. You’ll also have guided activities via the Learning Management System (LMS) to supplement your learning.
This course requires students to attend all sessions, complete self paced/ online learning including research and reading and to complete all assessments online.
Study sessions are available and will be facilitated online unless a student requests face to face or reasonable adjustment has been made. These study sessions are created separate to the student training timetable.
All courses will have an induction session, to share knowledge, help students with login details, training on the LMS and meet each other.

All training sessions are led by certified trainers and assessors who will provide guidance and aid with course units and assessment.
There is comprehensive student support for students through the identification of support needs and allowance of reasonable adjustments. Individualised training plans are created for students.
If student support is outside the capacity of the RTO staff, we will refer to services as needed.
Students have access to all work on the Learning Management System as well as trainers and assessors and office staff for all support services.
Student support can be provided on the following, but not limited to:
- Telephone or email support
- LLN support
- IT support
- Study skills support
- Any reasonable adjustment provisions
- Personal student support.
