in Community Sector Management
Course Outline
The Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management reflects the role of workers who are or strive to be middle managers or managers across a range of community sector organisations.
The program is a pathway designed to broaden the skills of the student across sections of the community services sector. This may include management of a specific program or project, or broader management of a community based organisation, education service, not for profit organisation, support workers or community centre.
Workers promote a person centred approach, supervise and/or coordinate a centre.
To obtain the CHC62015 Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management, students must complete a total of 13 units of competency, consisting of:
- Eight (8) Core units, and;
- Five (5) Elective units
Our elective units have been carefully selected based on industry requirements, student career aspirations, and feedback from both students and our trainers and assessors. We offer the electives listed in the ‘Elective units’ section below.

All assessments undertaken for the unit being studied are relevant to the workplace and assessment has been developed in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions.
Students will complete online assessments through the Learning Management System. These assessments have been created to compliment their learning.
Some methods of assessment used in this course are:
- Written answers
- Scenarios and case studies
- Multiple choice questions
- Activities undertaken within the classroom
- Self reflection
At prospED, our ultimate goal is your success. To ensure that you have the necessary skills to support your learning journey. Each student will undergo a pre-training review which will assist in determining if the course is the most suited to each individual’s needs and aspirations.
Entry Requirements
There are no course entry requirements.
If students are not in a management role, they may need to have employer support to be able to complete a range of tasks within the workplace, our course has a simulated workplace, meaning the students enter a simulated workplace and undertake the role within the training. If they have their own workplace documentation, they can access them through their learning.
Recommended entry requirements
Each student is required to have appropriate LLN level requirements to undertake this training.
Study Requirements
To successfully complete your coursework, you must fulfil certain requirements as follows:
- Effective communication, documentation, and research skills
- Students must have access to digital technologies, such as laptops, desktops, tablet-computers, and/or smartphones, along with basic digital literacy skills.
For students who are taking online study, additional digital skills and technologies are required, which include:
- Basic computer skills, such as internet browsing, email, word processing, and presentation software
- Proper workstation setup, including a stable internet connection with a suitable data plan, a laptop, desktop or a full-size tablet/tablet-computer, a web camera/microphone, a smartphone with charger, earphones/headphones/speakers, and a printer (optional)
- A quiet/non-interruptive space to complete their studies, a desk/table, comfortable chair, no tripping hazards, and room to move around for assessment, as well as access to water/tea/coffee.
Please note that students need to have their web camera and microphone turned on as required when using video conference
Upon successful completion of the CHC62015 Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management with prospED, your qualification will be nationally recognised.

Some universities offer degree programs in a related field of study where students may be eligible for some credit for completing the CHC62015 – Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management.
Student’s are able to apply for a Credit Transfer (CT) or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) prior to enrolling.
During the enrolment application process students can nominate if they wish to apply for Credit Transfer or RPL.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
To receive RPL, we assess your previous work, education and life experiences against recognised qualifications. Applications for RPL can be made prior to enrolling.
A fee per unit is applicable when applying for RPL. (see Statement of Fees)
Credit Transfer (CT)
To receive Credit Transfer we view your previous course transcripts (within the last 5 years) and ensure the course code and unit match what we offer. Applications for Credit Transfer can be made prior to enrolling.
You will need a copy of your Certificate with the unit code and title as evidence, or your USI.

This course requires students to attend all sessions, complete self-paced/ online learning including research and reading and to complete all assessments online.
Day classes:
You’ll have one session per week (9:30am – 3:30pm), which includes an online session with a trainer and assessor through video conferencing. You’ll also have guided activities via the Learning Management System (LMS) to support your learning.
Evening classes:
You’ll have two sessions per week (05:30pm – 9:30pm), which includes an online session with a trainer and assessor through video conferencing. You’ll also have guided activities via the Learning Management System (LMS) to supplement your learning.
Study sessions are available and will be facilitated online unless a student requests face to face or reasonable adjustment has been made. These study sessions are created separate to the student training timetable.
All courses will have an induction session, to share knowledge, help students with login details, training on the LMS and meet each other.

All training sessions are led by certified trainers and assessors who will provide guidance and aid with course units and assessment.
There is comprehensive student support for students through the identification of support needs and allowance of reasonable adjustments. Individualised training plans are created for students.
If student support is outside the capacity of the RTO staff, we will refer to services as needed.
Students have access to all work on the Learning Management System as well as trainers and assessors and office staff for all support services.
Student support can be provided on the following, but not limited to:
- Telephone or email support
- LLN support
- IT support
- Study skills support
- Any reasonable adjustment provisions
- Personal student support.
